EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS TO
LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSING (LPN) IN ARKANSAS

IF YOU ARE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL AND PLAN
TO PURSUE A NURSING CAREER:


Contact school(s) of your choice for help in planning a course of high school study to better prepare you for nursing. Take entrance test, if required, as early as possible in your senior year. Contact school(s) of your choice for information on specific entrance requirements; tuition, housing, financial aid, or other information as required.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
If you are an R.N., transfer or post baccalaureate student and plan to pursue a nursing career: Arrange to have transcript(s) sent to school(s) of your choice for evaluation.

BY LAW:
You are required to be a high school graduate or have passed the GED prior to admission to nursing school. LPNs and LPTNs may receive credit for, or may challenge, up to 30 semester hours toward a degree. RNs (ADN or Diploma) may recieve credit for, or may challenge, up to 60 semester hours toward a B.S in Nursing degree. In addition to the articulation provisions required by law for licensed nurses, many programs offer other educational mobility opportunities.
